6 reasons you should be using Pinterest as an entrepreneur

As an entrepreneur, our goals are to have our business thrive. To do that, we have to be seen. What if I told you that there’s a platform out there with MILLIONS of users every single month ready to pick up what you are putting down? Well, Pinterest is that platform and the users even have money in their pockets to be able to afford your services and products. Let’s get into the six reasons why you NEED to be using Pinterest as an entrepreneur.

This is a guest post from Hannah over at hannahljohnson.com.

1. Pinterest isn’t pay to play like Facebook or Instagram.

As you probably know, Instagram and Facebook have become “pay to play”, meaning you have to pay for ads in order to get anything significant results from the platform. Pinterest isn’t that way. Although you can run ads, organic traffic on the platform is thriving more than ever. Pinterest actually came out and stated that they have no interest in lowering the distribution of organic pins in order to push ads. Pinterest thrives off organic content and that is what their viewers like. Ads are just an addition that currently have a great balance on the platform. So, basically you get to reach a ton of people on the platform at no extra cost to you — that sounds like a win to me!

2. Pinterest is NOT a social media site.

This is by far one of my favorite myths to debunk in the Pinterest world. Not only that, but Pinterest is a search engine, not a social media site.  It doesn’t act as one or perform as one so you can’t treat it the same way as you would Instagram or Facebook or any other social media platform. Think Google, but prettier! The key here, though, is catching your audience’s eye with beautifully curated pin designs while also having amazing SEO so the algorithm can serve your content up to the pinners who need it!

Not only that, Pinterest delivers your content to the audience that needs you RIGHT NOW — meaning they are searching and looking for solutions and Pinterest is connecting you to that ready-to-buy customer!

3. It’s lead generation on autopilot.

The next reason why you NEED to be using Pinterest as a business is Pinterest allows you to generate leads for your business on autopilot. If you are taking on new clients or trying to sell a product, every single person that shows interest in your services or products, or reaches out to you, or signs up for your newsletter is considered a lead. Leads are how you make serious money! So the fact that Pinterest allows you to automate that is honestly the best thing ever.

4. 84% of pinners use the platform to decide what to buy.

In the last year, I have generated over $1,700 from a SINGLE pin selling an Instagram ebook on Pinterest. (This pin is STILL going viral to this day actually! I woke up to 2 sales this morning from it!) Pinterest will sell for you, and this doesn’t just go for digital products. If you have a physical product, there are different strategies that you have to use but it’s so worth it because you have the ability to reach your audience when they need you.

5. 64% of people using Pinterest trust the service providers and businesses on the platform.

This is the truth! 64% of Pinterest users described the platform as a place to find ideas, products, or services they can trust. This number is rising as well as more and more people use Pinterest and find service providers and businesses on the platform. Get on Pinterest and collect all the leads, all the clients, and all the sales! What are you waiting for?

6. Pinterest users have more money to spend.

The MOST important reason of all is by far this one. Did you know that half of Pinterest users earn $50K or greater per year, with 10 percent of Pinteresting households making greater than $125K?

Let me throw another super fun fact at ya: 83% of WEEKLY pinners have made a purchase based on the content they saw from brands on Pinterest. As an entrepreneur, you are a brand; when people keep seeing your content, they will purchase whatever it is you are selling! Just remember that people need to see something on average 7-8 times before purchasing. This is one of the reasons it takes a little bit of time for Pinterest to start running consistently. The best part about the platform though is, if they find you once, they will see your content over and over and over because that is how the algorithm works!

So, did I convince you? I hope I did and if you have ANY questions at all you can find me on Instagram below to connect with me and ask them! Pinterest is truly an amazing platform that seems almost too good to be true, but I promise you it isn’t. Pinterest will not only help you grow your business but will also help you reach milestones you never thought you could.
